The Importance Of Software Tools In Software Development
Software development undergoes through various stages and each stage must be complete with great care to avoid any kind of bug or quality issue. While manually some stages can be completed effectively without any issues there are some stages that requires automation and certain Software Tools are thus implemented to add pace and ensure the successful completion of the stage. Some of the widely recommended such tools include requirement management, test management, project management, use case management and more such tools.
Testing tools is one of the most important Software Tools required in any kind of software development. Testing is one of the most important aspects of software development that requires conducting repeated tests with same or slightly changed data repeatedly. Though some tests can be performed manually, others might not to be possible because it would be monotonous that would only contribute in enhancing the risk of bad quality software. With the help of test management tools a software project can be managed much more carefully and that too within a short period of time. Through these tools testers can create test cases based on use case scenarios, create test scenarios based formal models like Decision Tables and State Models, maintain pass/fail status on test case level, the test set level as well as the requirement level.
Project management is another tool which is invincible for any software project. Managing project activities successfully is very important as it ensures that deadline is met without any kind of bug or quality issue. A quality project management tool must have the feature like allocating and managing project resources, roles, responsibilities as well as accessing rights, creating and managing project task for both development and testing on project and requirement level, create and maintain action item lists for both development and testing effort, creating and maintaining project timeline for all project tasks for development and testing etc.
These are the just two types of common Software Tools required for any kinds of software development and the list is quite long. However, it is also important to ensure that tools are selected properly and thoroughly so that each of them provides the desired service. Understanding the features as well as the functionality of the tools combined with organizational requirement ensures a successful tool selection. Opting for trial versions is also a great way to select the right tools as the organization can understand how much the tool is worth investment along with thorough understanding of the requirement.

Channel Development and Management in the Software Industry
Using a channel of independent companies to resell, implement and/or service customers has long been a tradition in the history of the software industry. For some software companies the channel has been a major contributor to global success, but for most software companies making it work is a depressing and constant struggle. The objective of the workshop “Channel Development and Management in the Software Industry” is to give software executives an opportunity to review and discuss the issues related to growing local and global market share through a channel of resellers and value added partners.
"We have packed the Channel Development and Management workshop with case stories and practical advice,” says Hans Peter Bech, CEO of TBK Consult and co-instructor. “We are using elements from Osterwalder's Business Model Generation approach to analyse the impact on using a channel on all the other areas of a software business. Our approach is based on the Business Value Proposition for the channel partner and we provide software executives with the tools to apply this approach to their individual situations.”
The workshop introduces The Partner P&L Model, which depicts the business as seen from the partner's viewpoint. The workshop will review which elements to include in the P&L model and how the P&L model is used in the partner recruitment and account management processes. The first workshop, which will be held in Milan, Italy on May 8th 2013, is already fully booked. Interested software executives can join the waiting list. Gianmaria Odello and Hans Peter Bech who both have more than 30 years of experience with building and managing international channels in the software industry facilitate the workshop, which is delivered by TBK Academy®.
