America’s only purple corn tortilla chips now have another distinction: award-winning packaging. Brandhouse, Inc. is the design group behind the bags that contain Mystic Harvest (www.mysticharvest.com) Authentic Purple Corn Tortilla Chips with Sea Salt and Multi Grain Purple Corn Tortilla Chips. The bag designs and their creators were recently awarded an American Package Design Award, given out yearly by Graphic Design USA (www.gdusa.com).
The bold, graphic packaging features a close-up image of an ear of purple corn with a background of a subtle mountainscape, an ode to the Peruvian Andes where purple corn originates from. The bags were designed by Geoff Marko and Gregg Marko, the team that make up Brandhouse (www.brandhouseinc.com). With offices in Chicago and Denver, Brandhouse has collaborated with Axium Foods, Inc. (www.axiumfoods.com), Mystic Harvest’s parent company, on a number of design projects, including the recent makeover of the Axium Foods corporate logo.
Launched in the spring of 2012, it took less than a year for Mystic Harvest to hit it big by landing at Midwest Costco Warehouses. Fresh from that accomplishment, the brand now finds itself in the company of other big names such as Campbell Soup, Target, Kraft, General Mills, AT & T, and Starbucks, who were among the winners of this year’s GDUSA Design Awards.
